Will He Come Back? Reading for Reconciliation

This question tends to arrive two to eight weeks after an ending, in the stretch where the shock has worn off and the missing has started. It is rarely asked calmly. It is also, in practice, two questions stacked on top of each other: will they come back, and should I want them to.

Readings on this question are often clearer than people expect, because the cards tend to describe what is already true rather than what might happen. Endings that are genuinely finished read as finished. Situations that are still open read as open — usually uncomfortably, because open is not the same as promising. The most common outcome is a reading about the querent's own readiness rather than about the other person's plans.

What the cards can't tell you

No spread can commit another person to a future action, and any reading that promises a return date is doing something dishonest. What it can address is whether you are waiting for a person or for a version of the relationship that ended before the relationship did. Those need different answers.
