How it actually shows up

Strength is the card of the long, unglamorous kind — staying steady with something that keeps testing you. Chronic illness, a difficult family member, a habit you've broken four times, a job you cannot leave yet. The traditional image is a woman with a lion, and the detail that matters is that she isn't fighting it. She's staying near it. That's the card's whole argument: force ends the encounter, patience changes it. In readings it tends to show up for people who are exhausted and interpreting the exhaustion as failure. Strength disagrees. It also, quietly, asks what the lion is — because people often assume it's the external difficulty when it's their own anger about the difficulty, which is a different animal and responds to different handling.
