Page of Swords

How it actually shows up

The Page of Swords is the one asking the question everybody else agreed not to ask. There is real courage in that and real clumsiness — the Page has the sharpness without the timing, so the truth arrives at the wrong moment and lands as an attack when it was meant as curiosity. When it describes you, the card is generally encouraging: keep asking, you are onto something, and the discomfort in the room is not evidence that you are wrong. When it describes somebody else, be careful what you say near them. This energy moves information quickly and does not always know what it is carrying.

Common pairings

• Ace of Swords — the question you are asking is the right one
• Seven of Swords — information travelling in ways you did not intend
• The Moon — curiosity chasing something that is not quite there
• The Hierophant — you are questioning a rule that deserves it
• Knight of Swords — the question is about to become an argument
